Proper Job facilitates a composting/growing/selling cycle, whereby Chagford's green garden clippings are utilised as a resource through the Community Composting Project, which in turn fertilises the Market Gardens, and the produce is sold to the community through The Courtyard shop and cafe and at it's reuse site where the polytunnel is located. This year 2008 we have had to severly shorten the polytunnel unfortunately to make space for the expanding book store and Clothing portacabin - however Jo Hodges continues in her retirement to grow wonderful vegetables from part Pound Meadow to supply the Courtyard. And next season 2009 and we will be selling plants from the Proper Propagation unit based in the polytunnel.
We aim to cultivate a diverse variety of plants for medicinal and culinary use and to run workshops in plant propagation - please ask for Suzy at the site for more info (or Nicky or Chinnie). Watch this space!
By supporting Proper Job, you are helping to encourage local employment, waste minimisation, 'sustainable development', and a system of growing in harmony with the earth.
