When unsellable items are donated, it costs us valuable time and money to dispose of them — money that could otherwise support our work. So, if you’re having a clear-out, please consider whether your items are in clean, good, sellable condition before donating.
Many charities don’t have the facilities on site to wash or dry items. If all donated items are clean and in good condition, it makes a big difference — reducing waste and helping us make the most of your generous contributions.
The Financial Impact
When we receive donations that we cannot sell, it becomes a burden. The disposal of these items cost us, and take funds away from our mission.
What Can You Do?
♻️ Before donating, take a moment to assess your items. If they are not clean, functional, and resale-ready, consider alternative disposal options. You can take them to your local tip where there are dedicated textile recycling points. Some councils even offer roadside textile recycling collections, so it’s worth checking!
