The Proper Job Resource Centre was buzzing last Saturday 7th April, as children and adults gathered for the second in our series of free re-use workshops. This time it was the incredibly popular Bird Box Making Workshop with broadcaster and naturalist Nick Baker.

Under Nick’s expert guidance participants learnt how to make their own bird box out of reclaimed wood and materials from the Proper Job site.  With supervision children mastered the art of cutting the wood to size, nailing the pieces together and drilling out the hole.

Nick shared his knowledge of our feathered friends teaching about what species of bird they are likely to attract, location and maintenance of the box and the best food types to feed birds.

The end results were absolutely fantastic and we are sure that they will all be encouraging a host of avian beauties to make their homes in them!
