Come to Proper Job Resource Centre, Chagford on Sat 10th March for a free fun filled day of re-use and repair workshops suitable for all family. We will be hosting various workshops in bike repair, tool sharpening, sewing and composting. This event is to celebrate Devon re-use week and is a launch event for further community repair workshops which will take place throughout the year. Free refreshments will be provided on the day. Learn to sew with Sue.
Come along on your own or with a friend and learn to make a Tote bag, Purse with button fastening, Apron, Cushion or Headband. Sue will show you through all the process, pattern cutting, pressing, sewing by hand and machine. You will be able to choose from all the reclaimed materials from the Proper Job Re-use Centre. This hour-long work shop is completely free. No previous experience is necessary.
Groups of up to two people each ticket enables two people to attend. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Please ensure that you are wearing suitable clothing and sturdy footwear for safety reasons.
Bike repair and maintenance with Frank ‘The Bike Fixer’
Bring your bicycles down to the Resource Centre for Frank to give it a quick once over. Frank will complete a mini service of your bike free of charge to make sure it is safe and running efficiently. Each session is 30 minutes long. Frank will show you how maintain and care for your bike to ensure optimum performance. If your bike needs simple repairs such as new brake cables frank will happy to replace them on the day for a small charge to cover parts. Where possible he will use reclaimed parts from the Proper Job site which will be free of charge.
If your bike requires more comprehensive part and repairs Frank can book you in to his workshop in Crannafords Ind. Park at a later date.

Tool Sharpening with Eric Hodges
Learn to sharpen your tools with Eric Hodges. Do you have blunt knifes, shears, plains, scissors, saws, hoes and spades? Bring them down to Proper Job and he will show you through different techniques to ensure that you are getting the best performance out of your tools.
Groups of up to two people may attend. Over 18s only. Please ensure that you are wearing suitable clothing and sturdy footwear for safety reasons. If you are bringing sharp objects such as knifes please ensure that they are wrapped up and covered during transportation to avoid injury.

Workshop at Proper Job with expert Nicky Scott. Nicky has 30 years of experience of composting expertise, written several books and co-designed systems, advised for schools and businesses throughout Devon. He is the founding member of Proper Job. The session covers-

Session- 2 -. Growing media ( 2pm – 4pm)
How can we make our own growing media suitable for, seeds, potting, cuttings etc
We can sieve out some of the PJ compost – mix it with some other ingredients and talk about how these different mixes work for the differing functions
Nicky will attempt to answer all your burning compost queries.
