Proper Job and Touch Wood Southwest collaborated to host a workshop especially for children and parents/ guardians.

Attendees learnt how to make a simple stool using waste pallet wood and gained the ability and knowledge in how to use reclaimed wood and hand tools that are easy and cheap to find second hand.

Children and guardians learnt about making and mending things and learnt new skills that they could do together at home. They learnt basic carpentry techniques and how to use tools including saws, screw drivers, hand drills, hammer and combination squares.

This workshop encouraged attendees to reduce reuse and recycle. We used waste pallet wood that is free to get hold of, and we gave basic knowledge to mend and make things from wood at home. The children learnt about gaining satisfaction of something hand made versus something shop bought.
