I’m dreaming of a green Christmas.
Devon Recycling and Reuse Charity, Proper Job are getting recognition nationally this Christmas with their sustainable Christmas workshops, after being invited to host an event in London Regent Street. The charity, based in the Dartmoor town of Chagford, co-hosted a planet-conscious event at L’Occitan’s flag ship store for a group of influencers.
The Proper Job vision is to create a zero waste society. The charity educates the community though events and workshops and also offers quality second hand resources such as clothing, books, reclamation, furniture and more. The charity also provides recycling facilities for hard to recycle items such as pens and plastic wrapping.
This event celebrated a new initiative in L’Occitian stores that will change the landscape of beauty recycling. The multi national company has partnered with TerraCycle to provide an outlet for beauty customers to recycle any of their products.
Representatives from the Proper Job charity Alison Sallis CEO and Kate Webber were invited to facilitate an evening of sustainable wreath making using waste rags to create beautiful recycled decorations. Though out the workshop the influencers discussed the shocking impact Christmas has on the environment and the way that they could reduce waste this festive season.
“ Each year Christmas in Britain sees an increase of 30% more waste, including 125,000 tonnes of plastic packaging, 227,000 miles of wrapping paper and 230,000 tonnes of food. We are on a mission to help people reduce this which will have a positive impact on the environment we live in” Alison Sallis said.
This Christmas Proper Job are challenging you to reduce the waste you and your family create, urging you to make more sustainable choices this festive season. With tips such as purchasing second hand presents and making homemade gifts and recycled decorations. Switching to recyclable paper for wrapping, or even better reusing something such as newspaper or fabric are an easy way to make make a positive change.
